Physically I'm back at work, but mentally and emotionally, I'm pretty much still in camp! Haha...talk about a hungover!
But, camps have always had this effect on me. I'll be dreamy for a while..until reality sinks in. Somehow, this camp was different. Don't ask me how...it's just different! I guess this camp was the one camp which I was most involved in. I even had the chance to get properly acquainted with participants. Truly, I agree with Rong Feng that this is THE camp with the MOST lovable participants!

I'm sneaking this blog entry while pretending to do work! (I am supposed to be at work, after all!) Not particularly truthful...hehe!

I will definitely blog somemore, later at home!

There's still so much to do after camp..there's the post-mortem, and planning of the reunion! Personally, I feel that it's time to return the favours of my seniors (way overdue, but heck!) by helping my juniors, and that's fellow participants of UNITE2IGNITE.. to stay together and attend TQG, our sunday sessions headed by Bro. Vincent! Why do I say that's it's returning the favour? That you shall read in my next blog! Haha...

Till the next time...
Stay together!

Metta smiles and metta thoughts,
Piggie.

Author

Venice Hoh

(yoonyng@hotmail.com; venicehoh@airasia.com)

What a wonderful camp. I wish it could be longer still and don't have to miss you guys.
The camp was a successful one. It was worth the effort, many ppl enjoy the camp. During the planning of camp, we committee has many ups and down. But because our bond of kalyana mitras, we stay strong to work things out. Now, the end result was really a good product. Many new found friends i have make during this camp.. Some even find the meaning to life.

Well as for me, i now learn that effort and will is the source of success. The will keeps you going to make something, and effort that you put in.. gives u the end result. It does make a lot of difference between working with full effort and without effort. The quality in them are not the same.

Although i hardly meet the participant, i know all the participant were happy.. and enjoy their participation in this camp. I truely like this camp participant, they are so discipline. For so many camp i went to. I have never seen an obedient camp participant like this. We committee were very happy to have you all because you all make us happy by listening to us. During the talk show, I have friend from other Buddhist Youth Group came up to me, saying " is this ur camp participant, Why they all so "Quai"?" i replied "yeah they are my participant, they are best participant u can never get". Participant you guys rock.

I like to take this opportunity to thank all the participant for making this camp a success, without you all.. i dun think i will call this a camp either. Besides, Committee members, you all done a very very good job.

Author

Lim Rong Feng

(rongfern@hotmail.com)

From strangers to friends, from friends to teammates, from teammates to Kalyana Mitras~

What made me go on...
I still remember my first Buddhist Youth encounter.
That was way back in year 2000. On Wesak, after much persuasion from Jo-Lynn, I stepped into the Vihara for the first time. Eversince that fateful day, I felt as if I was home. I've been participating in camps, and projects. My favourite time, however, is still to attend camps. I have been a committee since my first camp. However, I am truly blessed as I have the chance to experience, witness and pass on the magic of camp.

Just as my words in UNiTE2iGNiTE, we really grow from strangers to friends, to team-mates, and then to Kalyana Mitras. I found my Kalyana Mitras through camps as well...

Through camp, youths get to learn independence, cohesiveness, comprehension, and tolerance. We also get to cultivate 'khanti'-patience and 'metta'- loving kindness. Anyone who reads this may think that I'm merely just blogging. But mind you. Those who were with me knows what I'm blogging. Especially seniors. *wink*

It took me a lot of sweat and tears to learn all these... and with UNiTE2iGNiTE, I was finally given the honour to pass the good turn to my juniors. Blessed with more capabilities than when I started out in YS, I can finally start to follow the actual footsteps of my seniors.

What am I talking about ahh?

Haih... last time, we used to tumpang-menumpang each other to TQ sessions on Sunday mornings. More of I menumpang, than I tumpang. But...nevertheless, going to TQ was something we'd always look forward to. After sessions, we'd head over to Summit for lunch. Seniors, juniors.... anyone...and it'll be laughter all the way.

Then some of us even joined the Friday nite YS sessions later. That's when i've enjoyed full pampering from my seniors, my tai-kos and tai-ka-ches. They would come all the way out of their routes to pick me up just so that I can join in their sessions. The mamak sessions afterwards was always another delight. Not to mention the occassional late night movies which they'd chaperone us the juniors to.

When I was mugged knife-point on my way home, once again, my seniors rose to the occassion wonderfully. I acquired a phobia of the nite and strange malay men eversince, but my seniors were there to make sure that I was never alone. Bro. Jeffrey would come and pick me up after work on Fridays, and make sure I'd be sent home safe. Bro. Desmond and Bro. Jeffrey also pampered me with the occassional night out in town to good food. I guess they understand that I felt lonely for working full-time at my age, when everyone is nicely enjoying college. Many other seniors would talk to me, and counsel me. Whenever I'm frustrated, I can always find shoulders to cry on...even today.

When I started drifting apart, I found that I could never stay totally away. There will always be something pulling me back. Pulling me home. There's always something new to discover, something new to find. My best find: my other half. Also in YS! Trust me, getting a Buddhist other half REALLY helps a lot. Wee Lee, Jeffrey, Desmond, Ai Jou, Fook Ming, Oi Ying, Wei Tsung, Jin Hwa, Jeremy... and so many others I can't stop listing... Sadhu. Thank you. From the very bottom of my wounded heart, thank you.

Basically, what i'm trying to say is that, there's almost nothing to lose being a Buddhist Youth.

If I want to start mentioning more names, I'd never get up from this chair...(maybe I can start a blog series...MY KALYANA MITRA) but I simply can't miss out Rong Feng, Jo-Lynn, Reuben, Hui Yuan, Oi Lum, Chee Wee, Daniel, Yee Chean, and all peeps of my generation..thank you for growing up with me and staying by my side. I love you guys.

However, I honestly, whole-heartedly invite all UNiTE2iGNiTE family members (and I'm sure I speak for theose I've listed as well) to come and share this experience. What more... to make it your experience as well.

My dearest brothers and sisters of UNiTE2iGNiTE,

I really hope to see each and everyone of you on every Sundays, when TQ resumes sessions. Come forth, and let us discover together your hidden capabilities and potential. Let us reach new heights together, and give us (my generation) a chance to help you just as how our seniors helped us.

We truly love you.

Love,
Piggie.

Author

Venice Hoh

(yoonyng@hotmail.com, venicehoh@airasia.com)
